Body stress occurs in the body when it cannot readily adapt to stress overload. The stress could be physical, emotional or chemical in nature or a combination of these. The technique involves a series of gentle stress tests mostly along the spine to find the areas of locked in stress. The stress is released with a gentle, precise pressure with the fingers. This stimulates the body to release the tension and allows for self-healing to occur naturally and effectively
During pregnancy a mother-to-be often experiences lower back pain along with aches in the pelvic region as her body has to adapt by changes in this area to accommodate the growth of a new little human. She may also experience pain or discomfort in other areas of her body due to a different way of moving and accommodating extra weight and different weight distribution in her body. It is perfectly safe to have body stress release during pregnancy and is a very effective way to relieve pain, discomfort and stress during this time. After the birth a new mother may experience pain in her back due to stresses experiences during the birth process and many women who have had epidurals may experience discomfort or pain in the area of the spine where the needle was inserted. Body stress release is very effective in releasing the tension in the body and allowing a complete recovery. It also helps with the emotional stresses a new mother experiences.
The birth process can also be stressful for the baby and tension is often locked into the neck or back. It is advisable to have a baby checked for body stress within the first few months after birth so that this tension can be released before it starts causing problems later on. Stiffness in the body, reluctance to lie in certain positions, colic, constipation, only wanting to turn in one direction could indicate stored body stress in the baby. Babies and children respond to BSR very quickly as the stress has not been stored in their bodies for very long.
Toddlers who are reluctant to walk, always wanting to be carried may have lower back stress which is affecting the legs causing “growing pains”. This tension could also cause feet to rotate inwards or outwards. Releasing the tension gently will restore correct nerve and muscle function, relieving pain and allowing normal development. Since releasing tension in the body along the spine improves communication between brain and body, body stress release also helps improve muscle coordination.
